I love weddings and Josie, so I knew her wedding would be a blast. Not to mention it was in her hometown in the great state of Montana.
I was asked to be a bridesmaid at my sorority sister's wedding. My first time being asked to be one!! Although I was absent for the bridesmaid trip in Las Vegas, I was excited to celebrate her big day.
If you knew Josie, you would realize that this girl is organized. She was set to marry her high school, and long-term boyfriend turned fiancé, so this wedding was planned out. She sent out a PowerPoint with where to get our bridesmaid dresses, each of us wearing a different color and style, and her comprehensive Pinterest list where she had been saving every DIY project for the past years.
The road trip from Utah to Montana was idyllic. We drove through the rolling farmlands and steep mountain passes. When we finally reached Josie's hometown, we discovered she had rented a beautiful mansion for the bridal party and groomsmen. The house was a hunting lodge with rich textures and colors associated with a more old-fashioned look. The themes meshed and provided a gorgeous backdrop for photos.
As a pre-wedding activity, we went river rafting. We swam about the flowing Bitterroot River for a lazy afternoon before returning to Josie's parents for a BBQ on their expansive lawn overlooking the valley. After dinner, I worked with 2 other sorority sisters to make and design the bridesmaids' bouquets while the rest worked on the wooden ornamentation and arch in preparation for the big day.
The morning of the big day started with last-minute touchups to the decorations, pavilion, and the ceremony location before a big pancake breakfast. The bridal party retired around noon to return to the mansion and start working on getting the bride ready! Dresses were steamed, makeup was done, and hair curled. The photographer showed up and began snapping images before we each returned to the ceremony location for a final dress rehearsal.
The wedding was beautiful. The night was amazing, and Josie looked so happy. I am still so thrilled that I was able to be a part of this monumental step in her life and share this moment with her.
