I have had the best 45-day internship yet. Best yet, it was up on Capitol Hill.
I have been able to work alongside some of the coolest individuals in the Senate. From the interns to the Senators, it has been an absolute blast.
Who knew a last-minute phone call with an old kappa sister would turn into such an amazing experience. You can only learn so much in a classroom. Sometimes getting worldly experience is the best way to get to know a system.
Boy, do I have a firmer understanding of the legislative process. I have watched grown men be passive-aggressive, civilized fights, political wars waged, and intense debates. There were moments when I was ecstatic and moments when I felt my heart break. Bills were passed that I found outrageous and some not radical enough.
I am so thankful for everything I have learned and look forward to a future that considers politics as a possible career.
